About Us

RibRide is home to a small but dedicated team, who love what they do. When at work, they are a highly professional, hard working and friendly bunch, who are committed to making your visit as enjoyable and memorable as possible.

When not at work, you will find them out enjoying the amazing outdoor environment we have on our doorstep. Whether it is efoiling, kite surfing, mountain biking, windsurfing, sailing, paddleboarding, kayaking, surfing, running, cycling or swimming, Anglesey and North Wales really do provide the perfect natural playground for them to escape to after a busy day at work. Well it is either that or the pub!

Founded in 2005, by Phil Scott and Tom Ashwell, RibRide started out running trips from Victoria Dock in Caernarfon, before relocating to the Moel y Don Jetty, Anglesey in 2007. In 2014 the whole operation moved to where we are today at Porth Daniel, Menai Bridge.

Since the very early days RibRide has prided itself on its commitment to excellence in everything it does and as a consequence has won numerous awards and consistently received great reviews from its RIB Riders on TripAdvisor, achieving certificates of excellence from 2012 to 2020.

Awards include;

The Core Team

Phil Scott (AKA Oz)

Know best for.. In all honesty, working at RibRide. While at RibRide, rushing everything!

What brought me to North Wales:

University - although I must admit the epic windsurfing conditions on Anglesey made Bangor the only choice.

When I am not at work you’ll find me
.. Kitesurfing, Running, Skiing, Mountain Biking or more realistically driving the kids around in the car.

My favourite boating tip is
... The moment you find yourself asking - should I, then you already have the answer!.. Should I reef the sail? Yes. Should I put suncream on? Yes.

Favourite memory on the water is
... Kitesurfing alone at Newborough beach as the sun was setting on a warm autumn day.

Tom Ashwell

Know best for... Being the owner no-one thinks is the owner.

What brought me to North Wales:

Island life; 15 years living on a yacht took its toll on my ability to fit in with real life. Anglesey is about as fast-paced as I can handle.

When I am not at work you’ll find me
.. on the water.

My favourite boating tip is
... stop staring at instruments! Instead look up, look around and use ALL your senses. You’re better equipped for this than you think.

Favourite memory on the water is
... that’s as hard as picking my favourite child. Whether I’ve been soaked to the skin, burned to a crisp, lost a race, won a championship, elated with a sunrise, terrified in a storm, skippered a great RIB tour or got my dates wrong and my jokes fall flat on another. After a lifetime working on the water there are so many wonderful memories, don’t make me choose!

Harry Pochin

Know best for... Going the wrong way on trips

What brought me to North Wales:

RibRide!

When I am not at work you’ll find me.. fixing my Land Rover

My favourite boating tip is
... Go the right way!

Favourite memory on the water is
... Having sundowners in Penmon sound with friends and family

The Shore Team

The Skipper Team

Will 'Windy Bill' Bedder

Know best for... the great RibRide Search And Rescue of 2015 (Ribride have photos)

What brought me to North Wales:
Resettled in beautiful North Wales after leaving the Navy

When I am not at work you’ll find me... Kitesurfing and walking my cockapoo (not at the same time)

My favourite boating tip is
... Listen to head skipper Charles

Favourite memory on the water is
... Stroking a very friendly seal pup just off puffin island.

Anthony (Trigger) Robinson

Know best for... annoying the other skippers!

What brought me to North Wales: Was born in Bangor, lived on Anglesey all my life and spent most days floating around on the Strait since.

When I am not at work you’ll find me... Racing my boat at Beaumaris, fixing my boat at Beaumaris. Hiding from my wife and kids, as usually in lots of trouble

My favourite boating tip is
...Hold on, it could get bumpy!

Favourite memory on the water is
...This is a tough one as far too many to choose from, more and more memories are made every time I step onto a boat. But possibly my favourite one has to be racing round the Fastnet Rock on a Tall Ship, even though my head was firmly wedged in the sick bucket.

Tom Scarth

Know best for... having a mullet

What brought me to North Wales: Fresh air, beautiful women and even better beer!

When I am not at work you’ll find me... Sailing the Irish Sea or on my mountain bike

My favourite boating tip is
... If you can’t tie knots, tie lots!

Favourite memory on the water is
... Navigating the kyles of bute at night only using radar and transits, scary but exciting!
