Pontydd a Throbyllau

Our skippers are your fast and fun guides to the natural beauty and history of the Menai Strait: Bridges, history, islands, nature, pier, shipwrecks, stately homes, statues and whirlpools.

Great for families and groups

After checking in at RibRide reception you will make your way to St George’s Pier, where your skipper will be waiting. Once life jackets have been fitted and the safety briefing delivered, you will be all set for an amazing and memorable Anglesey boat trip!

Remember to hold on tight, as we ease away from the pontoon before increasing the speed and heading towards the towering pillars of Menai Bridge. Feel the wind in your hair and your excitement rise as you enter the Swellies, infamous for its shipwrecks, rocks and whirlpools. Here you can marvel at the magnificence of the two bridges guarding it’s entrances, as your skipper keeps you entertained with fascinating stories about the area on the best boat trip North Wales.

Once through the Swellies, keep an eye out for the stone lions before you pass by Lord Nelson and onwards to Plas Newydd. Then it’s an about turn, back through the Swellies returning to Menai Bridge and heading past ‘Millionaires' row’. You will head up to Garth Pier, the second longest in Wales, before turning once more and zipping back to base with a few high speed twists and turns to finish.

Good to know

We aim to keep you dry but this is a boat trip and in some conditions you may get a bit wet so please wear appropriate clothing for both the RibRide and the weather!

It is always cooler on the water so we recommend lots of layers including a waterproof layer and sensible shoes. In the colder months, hats, gloves and scarves are strongly advised. Sunglasses or other eye protection are also a good idea.

RibRide is happy to welcome customers of any ability, however RIB tours are a physical activity. If you have medical concerns, please contact our office for advice and guidance.

Life jackets are mandatory and provided by RibRide.

If you are pregnant, we generally advise against participating on a RibRide, as trips can be a bit bumpy in certain conditions. If you do want to go out, we would ask that you consult with your doctor or midwife beforehand and consider booking this trip as a private event so we can tailor the trip to better suit your situation and the weather conditions on the day.

Our Adventure RIBS hold a maximum of 11 passengers.

We love our furry friends but sadly no dogs are allowed on our trips.

The Welsh Government has lifted all legal requirements relating to social distancing outdoors. This means we are able to open up our Adventure RIBs and operate them in our usual way.
