Abermenai Point Beach Clean March 2017

Sat 18th March 2017

On this Beach Clean we took three RIBs off to, Abermenai Point on Anglesey, for a #SpringCleanCymru #extremebeachclean. In an attempt to remove as much litter as possible from the marine environment.

It was frightening how much domestic plastic and fishing waste gets caught in this ‘mouth of the Strait’. As Skipper Phil says, “Abermenai is the mouth that feeds our businesses and we should be protecting this magical environment. We went to clean the coastline in March 2015 and there is a lot more plastic trapped there this time.”

The amount of cotton bud waste, little white and blue plastic sticks, we found was shocking. We could all make one small change and buy the paper stick version!

Many thanks to the volunteers from Anglesey Socialmedia, Keep Wales Tidy – Cadwch Gymru’n Daclus, Halen Môn Sea Salt and Surfers Against Sewage Sian Psyched Paddleboarding who removed 38 bags or waste, mostly plastic including a traffic cone and a wellie boot.
