Bear Grylls takes us to WALES on ‘Britain’s Biggest Adventures’ tonight at 9pm on ITV. In fact, our Skipper Tom Ashwell and the RibRide team assisted in the making of this new show.
“We provided safety-boat support for Bear during his hunt for the exotic ‘mantis shrimp’, which are thought to have come to Welsh waters due to an increase in sea temperature, and while spotting grey seal pups,” says Skipper Tom.
Filmed off the coast of North Wales, Bear found clues to the whereabouts of grey seal pups when he discovered the signs that a pup had been born in a sea cave. Tom spotted Bear inspecting the scene in the cave, noting he poked some slimy residue with a stick.
Never one to miss an opportunity, Tom shouted, “Bear, I thought you were going to eat that because you are a ‘Born Survivor’!”
In Welsh the Skerries are known as Ynysoedd y Moelrhoniaid, which means ‘the islands of the bald-headed grey seals’. You can see these fantastic mammals on our Skerries and Gogarth Bear Grylls trips.
